Nangpala and Everest Base Camp Trekking

Nangpala valley in the Everest region or the trekking to the Nangpala combined with the Everest base camp trekking route has been one of the most demanded trekking routes in recent days. This circuit requires special permit as it is on the border of Tibet. The trekking is also extended with Gokyo valley trekking and Everest Base Camp that crosses Chola pass.

Nagpala is also known as Renjo La pass is usually joined up with the Everest base camp trekking. It is one of the most challenging routes in the Everest region along the Everest base camp trekking. The trekking route is passes through Lukla-Namche Bazaar and Thame - the heart land of Sherpa ethic community. This is considered to be one of the most adventurous trekking routes in Nepal and most frequently visited trekking routes among the tourists who come across with the Hotel Trekker's Home.

We have direct flight from Kathmandu to the Lukla by airstrip for about 30 minutes and take a walk for four hours and reach at Phakding and rest for a night. Next day, we head to Namchhe, subsequently to Thame and we take some days for acclimatization and we head on to Lungden, similarly make trip to Sumna, Kanchung, Nangpa La and finally we reach at Gokyo valley via Renjo Pass (5340 m). Likewise we have trip to Gokyo ri (5360 m), Dzongla, Dzongla (4950m), Laubche (4910m) as well as to Kalapathar and then we return to Tengboche (3440m), Namche and at last we descend to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu by airstrip.

One of the attractions of the Nangpala trekking is that the tourists can explore the culture, tradition and lifestyle of the world known Sherepa ethnic community. Besides that one can have breath taking views of several mountains like Lhotse (8511m), Nuptse (7864m), Cho-Oyu (8201m), Makalu (8475m), Amadablam (6856m), Thamserku (6608m), Pumori (7145m) among others with the ice fall.

Nangpala and Everest Base Camp Trekking Day to Day Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in KTM, transfer to hotel
Our Office representative will be in International Airport to pick up you and transfer to Hotel. Orientation of the Trek and introduce with guide.

Day 02: Kathmandu–Lukla-Phakdhing Duration: 35 minute fly and 4 hrs walk
Height: 2610m.
Early morning fly to Lukla and walk to Phakding. It will be good flight views with about 200 km panoramic views of eastern Himalayas. After flight, walk along the Sherpa villages green vegetations and high cultivations.

Day 03: Phakdhing - Namche Bazaar Duration: 6hrs
Height: 3450m
Crossing several bridges on Dudhkoshi River via Jorsalle and climb up to Namche Bazaar steep up with Everest views along the climb through the Pines forest and alpine flowers and arrived a touristy town Namche bazaar. It has Bakeries, Email service, Money exchange, equipment shops, Foods shops, SPCC office and Museum at Chrokang gives you good time.

Day 04: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar Duration: Whole day
Height: 3450m
This day can use for rest or explore round like to Khumjung, Thomo, or Khunde village above Namche bazaar and back to Namche over night.

Day 05: Namche Bazar –Thame, Duration: 5 hours walk
Height: 3800m
After breakfast we head west along the valley of the Bhote Koshi called Thame. It is situated at an important junction along the old primary trade route to and fro Tibet via the Nagpala Pass. Overnight at Thame.

Day 06: Thame-Langdhen, Duration: 5-6 hours walk
Height: 4380m
The walk is quite easy as the altitude is gained gradually with no steep sections to speak of along the way. The scenery is quite different from anything we had seen so far. The trail goes above the tree line and the landscape is one of vast expanses of dry barren land with distant white peaks on the horizon, it is almost desert-like. Lungden is just a group of lodges, not a true village.

Day 07: Lungdeng to Sumna Phug, Duration: 6-7 hours
Height: 4815m
We head to Sumna Phug after breakfast and may camp at Sumna phug cave at the convergence of the Sumna and Lunag glacier before the venture to Lunag or Kangchung.

Day 08: Sumna Phug to Kangchung
Duration: 3-4 hours
Height: 5250m
Today we walk the path that is rarely walked by the tourist visiting the Everest region.

Day 09: Kanchung to Nang Pa La Hike and back to Kanchung, Duration:7-8 hours to go and back
Height: 5716
This is the hard day trek to and fro Nangpa La to the Tibetan border. Leaving very early we descend onto tthe rocky glacial moraine of the Nangpa Glacier. We continue our journey, until we don’t spot the prayers flag which mark the top of the Nangpa La and the border between Nepal and Tibet. The views are worth all the effort of the climb. Ahead we can look down and across onto the barren Tibetan Plateau. And finally we return to Kangchung the same way.

Day 10: Kanchung to Renjo la Base camp, Duration: 4-5 hours
Height: 5360m
Today trek is short and easy. Renjo La base camp is also known as Yak Kharka Camp which is situated below the Renjo La pass.

Day 11: Renjo La base camp to Gokyo Valley, Duration: 3-4 hours
Height: 4790m
The day starts real early as we have to walk to reach the pass, going slow because of the high altitude. After a brief stopover at the Renjo La Pass to enjoy the stunning beauty of the Everest Range and take photographs. We continue head to the village of Gokyo.

Day 12: Gokyo - Dragnag Duration: 4 hrs
Height: 4700m
Leaving Gokyo same path down and from the third lake turn to east over the Glacier and short walk to Dragnag over night. (B.L.D)

Day 13: Dragnag- Cho La - Dzonglha Duration: 9hrs
Height: 4830m
This is the hard day on trek start early morning with pack lunch along the up hill and turn east with boulders and steep climbing up to pass. Pass always with ice, some time deep snow and than walk down to Dzonglha. (B.L.D)

Day 14: Dzonglha – Lobuche Duration: 5 hrs.
Height: 4910m
Walk down southeast and turn to east north. From the trek Pheriche and Dhugla visible way south right hand side and good views of mountains surrounds. Walking along the Khumbu valley to Lobuche. (B.L.D)

Day 15: Lobuche – EBC- Ghorakshep Duration: 9hrs
Height: 5190m
Walking in the Khumbu valley alongside of Khumbu Glacier and after Ghorakshep walking along the glacier or some time on glacier too. Hard catching breathes and spends some time at EBC than back to Ghorakshep. (B.L.D)

Day 16: Gharak Shep– Kalaptthar (5550) Dingboche Duration: 7hrs
Height: 4410m
Wake up early morning and walk up to Kalapatter for Sun rise Views of Everest, Nupse, Lohtse, Pumori just above and Khumbutse and beautiful views of Khumbu Glaciar and back down to Lodge and walk down to Dingboche via Dhugla. (B.L.D)

Day 17: Dingboche–Chhukung ri (5600m) -Dingboche Duration: All day
Height: 4410m
After breakfast start trek with just daypack gradual up hill to Chhukung (4700m) and steep climb up to Chhukung ri for 360 views of Himalayas, than walk down to Dhingboche over night. Also good trip to Glacier or to Imjatse valley trip makes good trip. (B.L.D)

Day 18: Dingboche -Tengboche Duration: 6hrs
Height: 3860m
Leaving behind 360 views of high Himalayan ranges slow down to Diebuche via Pangboche and climb to Tengboche monastery one of the world Heritage site can be visit for self-purification. The original Gompa was built in 1916 but was destroyed by an earthquake in 1934.Disaster struck again, as the replacement building was burnt to the ground in 1989. The new monastery was finished in 1994 and has a library and cultural center plus a school, which educates about 30 young monks. This Gompa in part of Nyingmapa or red Hat sect. (B.L.D)

Day 19: Tengboche – Namche Bazar Duration: 6hrs
Early morning good view of Mt Everest from just above the lodge and down hill treks goes to Phunki Tenga and climb back Namhce via Khumjung and Sansa and down to Namche Bazar for good lodge. (B.L.D)

Day 20: Namche Bazar – Phakdhing Duration: 6hrs
Height: 2610m
Down hill through the Pine forest leaving behind Everest and cross the several bridge on the Dudkosi river greener vegetation and cultivation along the Sherpa villages. (B.L.D)

Day 21: Phakdhing - Lukla Duration: 4hrs
Height: 2850m
Walking along the Dudkosi river and stay high passing couple villages and arrive at Lukla. (B.L.D)

Day 22: Lukla - Kathmandu Duration: 35 minute
Height: 1300m
Early morning fly to Kathmandu and drive to Hotel (B.D)
